Roseanna Beck has come out with this adorable baby’s first blanket. Free baby afghan patterns are fun to make when they’re being made for a special someone like baby. Pastel colors are perfect for any baby.
SIZE: 41” x 45”
Materials:
470 yds. White Red Heart 4-ply yarn (A)
340 yds. Petal Pink Red Heart 4-ply yarn (B)
340 yds. Pale Green Red Heart 4-ply yarn (C)
H and I crochet hooks or size needed for gauge
GAUGE: With H hook – 6 rows = 5” Cluster, dc, Cluster = 3”

This is a pretty simple pattern which looks quite elegant. I’d rank it perhaps advanced beginner; it’s not difficult at all. The most complicated part is that it uses three different hook sizes.
worsted weight yarn in two colors: 1 skein A & small amount B (I used white & black Caron Simply Soft)
5.5mm hook
5 mm hook
4.5 mm hook
5 1/2? (12 mm) buttons

materials:
Size “5” hook
Size 20 thread
notes:
dtr (double treble crochet) – yo 3x, draw up a loop (yo and draw through 3 loops) until 1 loop remains on hook
pattern:
Ch 5, join w/ sl st to form ring
Rnd 1: sl st in ring, ch 3, 19 dc in ring, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 2: ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in ea st around; 20 ch-sps
Rnd 3: sl st in next ch-sp, ch 1, sc in same ch-sp, (ch 10, sc) in ea ch-sp around to last sp, ch 5, dtr in starting sc to make last loop
Rnd 4-8: (ch 10, sc) in ea loop around, to make last loop – ch 5, dtr in dtr of previous Rnd.
Rnd 9: ch 5, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in same loop) twice, rep from * around to last ch loop, (ch 5, sc in last loop) ch 3, dc in dtr of prev Rnd; 60 ch-loops
Rnd 10 & 11: (ch 5, sc in next ch-loop) around, to make last loop – ch 3, dc in dc of prev Rnd.
