Split-lock stitch marker<br />

2 small black dome buttons<br />
small amount red Pearl cotton.</p>
<p>Gauge: 16 sc = 4”; 20 rnds = 4” in sc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.</p>

Rnd 26: [Dec] 6 times – 6 sc. Fasten off.<br />
Finish stuffing. Weave yarn tail through remaining 6 sc, draw up firmly to gather; fasten securely.</p>
<p>WING (Make 2): With C, ch 7.<br />
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next ch, 6 dc in last ch; working on opposite side of ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in last 2 ch; turn.<br />

<p>PATTERN: Row 1:  Ch 1, * sc in next dc, sc in ch-1 sp, repeat from * across,  end sc in next dc, sc in end sp.<br />
Row 2:  Ch 4, dc in 3rd sc, * ch 1,  sk 1 st, dc in next st, repeat from * across, end dc in last st.<br />
Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in each of first 2 dc,  * sc in ch-1 sp, sc in next dc, repeat from * across, end 2 sc in end sp.<br />
Row 4:  Ch 3, dc in 2nd sc, * ch 1,  sk 1 st, dc in next st, repeat from *  across. Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.</p>
<p>BAG:  With a double strand of yam,  ch 92.<br />
Row 1 (right side): Sk first 3 ch, * dc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, repeat from * across, end dc in last st.  Work even in pat until there are 36 rows. Cut one strand of yam.</p>
<p>With single strand, work as follows:  Row 1 (right side):  Ch 2, hdc in next st,  * ch 1, sk 1 st, hdc in next st, repeat  from * across.<br />
Row 2:  Ch 2, hdc in ch-1 sp, * ch 1,  hdc in ch-1 sp, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows once.<br />
Next Row (right side):  Work sc loosely from left to right, inserting hook in ch-spaces to obtain picots.  Fasten off.</p>
<p>Right side facing, with single strand, work sl sts in sc of 28th row, keeping  yam on wrong side.  Fasten off.  Fold bag on this sc row with upper part of  bag towards you.<br />
Picot Row 1:  Work sc in the same spaces as sl sts, inserting hook in back  lps only. Fasten off.<br />
Picot Row 2:  Work in same spaces as follows: sc in back lp of next st, * ch 3, sc in first ch, sk 2 sts, sc in back lp of next st, repeat from * across.</p>
<p>Work sl sts in 32nd row from lower edge same as for 28th row. Work Picot  Row 2 only in same spaces as sl sts.</p>
<p>STARS:  Make 2. Use single strand of yarn, ch 6; join with sl st to form a ring.<br />
Rnd 1:  * Ch 1, sc in ring, repeat from * 10 times.<br />
Rnd 2:  Ch 4 (first dc made), dc in ch-1  sp, * ch 2, dc in ch-1 sp, repeat from * around, end ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch of rnd.<br />

<p>Points:  Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each of  next 5 sts of rnd, turn.<br />
Row 2:  Ch 1, sc in each of the 5 sc, turn.<br />
Row 3:  Ch 1, work 2 sc tog, sc in each of next 3 sc, turn.<br />
Row 4:  Ch 1, work 2 sc tog, sc in  each of next 2 sc, turn.<br />
Row 5:  Ch 1, work 2 sc tog, sc in next  sc, turn.<br />
Row 6:  Ch 1, work 2 sc tog, fasten off.  * Join yarn in next st on rnd; work point  on next 5 sts, repeat from * around&#8211;9  points.</p>
<p><strong>FINISHING: </strong> Fold bag in half having fold along one long side. Work parts tog in sc, leaving top open. Sew a star to center of front and back.</p>
<p><strong>Fringe: </strong> Cut strands about 10&#8242; long.  Right side facing, with 4 strands for each fringe, fold in half, draw fold  through space at edge, draw ends  through fold and pull to tighten. Work 7 fringes evenly spaced along bottom.</p>
<p>Strap:  Make 2 twisted cords about  39&#8243; each using 3 groups of 3 strands of yarn. Knot ends of cords. Sew to front and back of bag about 1-1/2&#8243; from side.</p>

<p>Dc shell: (dc, ch1) 4 times</p>
<p>(P2) &#8211; Ch 2 slip stitch back into the top and side lps of the 1st stitch.</p>
<p>To prepare ball; Cut 1 1/4&#8243; off top of ball (FIG 1 of Diagram). With a pen, draw a line 1/2 inch wide around. (FIG 2 of Diagram). Slowly cut around line. Cut down 1 1/2 inch; 1 1/2 inch deep. With a spoon, pop out core. Discard Styrofoam core. Paint ball with Pearlessent paint. Insert musical button on bottom of ball.</p>
<p>Skirt: with pastel:</p>

With pastel: ch 60 and finish off. Dab ends with glue to secure. Cut off excess thread. Wrap doll in blanket and tie string in a bow.</p>
<p>Flowers: (make 2):</p>
<p>Leaving a 3 inch piece of thread, ch 11, sl st in 10th ch from hk, (ch 10, sl st in same sp as last sl st) 5 times, (ch 6, sl st between next ch-10 lp) 5 times, leaving a 3 inch piece of thread, finish off and weave in ends. Glue 1-5mm pearl to center. Repeat for other flower. Tie to end corner of canopy where canopy meets skirt.</p>
<p>Tack beadstring to front center and back center of canopy. Glue message around front of ball as shown in photo.</p>
<p>This design makes a nice gift for the new baby. Leave off the beadstring and put baby&#8217;s name on ball instead of Baby&#8217;s 1st Christmas.</p>
